Can I drive my Chevy with the message on?
Yes, but drive as if the driver aids are off. Keep your own distance and watch your lane.
- Tahoe or Suburban with Super Cruise: GM's hands-free driving reads the same sensors, so it may be off.
- 2020 to 2024 Equinox or 2025 Trax: adaptive cruise, lane keeping and collision alerts share one windshield camera.
Note the exact wording on the dash for your quote.

What sets it off on a Chevy
Service Driver Assist System means a driver assist part on your Chevy logged a fault. Your model decides which.
- 2020 to 2024 Equinox and 2025 Trax: no front radar, so after new glass, suspect the camera.
- 2014 Silverado 1500 and 2015 to 2017 Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban: a vibrating alert seat motor can trigger it. That's a dealer repair.
- 2023 to 2026 Tahoe and Suburban: a stale hands-free driving map, faulty software, or a newer radar whose aiming test drive never finished.
- Silverado 1500: a stale Super Cruise map on 2022 and 2023 trucks. Other years: a VIN scan finds the part.
Calibration re-aims a camera or radar so it sees the road straight. After glass or bumper work, it's usually the fix.
Send your VIN for a price.
From the message to the fix
- 1
Send the VIN and a photo
The quote form takes both. Add the exact wording on the dash and the last job done, such as new glass.
- 2
We match the cause to your year
The year shows which sensors your Chevy has and what GM documents for it. Seat, map and software causes go to your dealer.
- 3
Your quote, confirmed in writing
Each sensor gets its own line. You see the price and decide before anything is booked.
- 4
We calibrate what the diagnostic scan shows
The scan reads which part logged the fault. On a 2020 to 2024 Equinox or 2025 Trax, the camera is the one to aim.
What a Chevy fix costs
After new glass, your Chevy needs camera calibration. A radar-equipped Chevy with front-end damage can need the radar too.
Calibration, per system
Diagnostic scan
- Same price on a mobile visit, except rows marked Shop bay only.
- Prices are before sales tax. Whether labor is taxed depends on your state; any tax that applies is itemized on your written quote.
- Dynamic calibration runs on the road, so it can be done as a mobile visit. Static calibration needs a level, lit, measured space, so whether your job can be done mobile depends on what your car's documented procedure calls for.
- Rows marked Shop bay only are done in a shop bay. The bay-and-road camera price applies when your car needs both calibrations.

Sensors come from GM owner's manuals and bulletins, causes from the GM document in the row. Other GM makes: GMC, or Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac on one page.
Know your Chevy's driver assist message
On a Chevy, the message has a camera or radar cause, or a dealer one: seat, map or software. Model and year decide which.
On the 2020 and 2024 Equinox and 2025 Trax, adaptive cruise uses "a windshield mounted front camera sensor."
No front radar is listed. After new glass, the camera is the one calibration to check.
No glass work? Clean the windshield first. Snow or dirt can block the camera.
Rear blind-zone sensors, if equipped, learn on their own while you drive. No aiming job is needed.
From 2025, some Equinox builds add a front radar, per GM's radar bulletin. Other models: our Chevrolet page.

Tahoe and Suburban manuals for 2017, 2023 and 2025 say adaptive cruise uses a camera and radar.
The 2024 Silverado 1500 has the radar with Super Cruise. On either, two sensors can need calibrating.
New glass moves the camera. Front-end repairs can move the radar.
GM's job aid calls for radar calibration after removal or replacement. A crash beyond cosmetic damage does too.
A replaced radar needs programming to your Chevy first. That's $275, plus the radar calibration.

Radar-equipped builds of these models use a newer radar:
- 2025 and 2026 Tahoe, Suburban and Equinox
- 2024 to 2026 Traverse, Blazer EV, Equinox EV and Silverado EV
A scan tool starts its aiming drive. That's a test drive where the radar sets its own aim.
GM's March 2026 bulletin says highway driving no longer suits it. It finishes best in city traffic with:
- vehicles of mixed sizes ahead, and oncoming cars
- a gap of 50 to 150 feet to the car ahead
- mailboxes, parked cars or trees near the road
A timed-out drive can bring the message on. Ask before anyone resets it, since that wipes all progress.
The alert seat can trigger it on the 2014 Silverado 1500 and 2015 to 2017 Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban.
One clue: seat alerts switch to beeps. A broken wire at the seat motor is a common cause.
Your dealer replaces the motor. No sensor needs calibrating.
Got a 2023 Super Cruise Tahoe, Suburban or Silverado? Short trips can leave its map out of date.
Nobody worked on your 2023 or 2024 Tahoe or Suburban? GM's over-the-air fixes help prevent false messages.
Not sure which applies? Send your VIN.

Chevy Service Driver Assist System: your questions
Only for some causes. It's the fix when glass or bumper work moved a sensor, or a newer radar's aiming drive never completed.
Seat, map and software causes are dealer jobs; the table above shows which years.
It depends on which sensor needs re-aiming. Front camera calibration is $300 and front radar calibration is $330 at a service center.
Prices are per system, before sales tax where your state charges it on labor, and the full rate card is on the pricing page.
An Equinox or Trax after new glass needs the camera alone. A diagnostic scan, when your job needs one, is priced and itemized separately.
Yes. After a new windshield, the camera needs calibrating whether or not a message shows. GM's job aid lists it for every windshield replacement.
A 2020 to 2024 Equinox or 2025 Trax has no front radar to aim. Camera calibration is $300 at a service center.
Check your year in the table above. Seat, map and software causes are dealer jobs.
For other years, send your VIN and the fault codes show which part logged it.
Clearing it won't fix the cause. It comes back while the fault is still there.
A battery disconnect doesn't re-aim a camera or radar either. After a radar replacement, ask the shop whether its aiming drive finished.
It can. GM lists warranty labor for its map and newer-radar fixes, so a Chevy still under warranty goes to the dealer first.
