Warning

Is it safe to drive with this message on?

You can drive, but don't rely on the assists listed below. Your brakes and steering work as normal.

  • What switches off: collision braking and distance-keeping cruise. Camera messages can stop lane keeping too.
  • After a hard knock up front: have the sensors checked before you rely on them.
  • If it won't clear: drive as if those features are off, and leave more room.

Some Driver Assist Systems Cannot Operate: what each second line means

On a Honda, this message is Honda Sensing saying its camera or radar can't see. The second line says why:

  • Radar Obstructed: snow, mud or bugs over the radar, or bad weather. Wipe its spot:
    • 2017 to 2022 CR-V: the front grille.
    • 2019 Civic Sedan: the lower bumper.
    • 2019 Pilot: the emblem.
  • Clean Front Windshield: dirt or fog where the camera looks through the glass. Newer models add "or poor viewing condition".
  • Camera Temperature Too High: a sun-baked cabin. Cool it, then drive.
  • Clean area shown (2026 Passport): the radar's patch of grille is covered.

Try these before you book

Go down the list in order. Glass or front-end work just before it started? Skip to the prices.

  • Park somewhere safe. Wipe the windshield, grille and emblem with a soft cloth.
  • Use water or a mild detergent, not solvents or polish.
  • Hot cabin? Run the air conditioning, with the defroster aimed at the glass.
  • Drive a while. The message should go once the camera or radar can see.
  • Still there? Get a quote with the exact words on the dash.

What re-aiming a Honda sensor costs

New windshield? That's the camera. Radar taken off, or bumper work within about 12 inches of it? That's the radar. Cleaning costs nothing.

Service Price
  • Same price on a mobile visit, except rows marked Shop bay only.
  • Prices are before sales tax. Whether labor is taxed depends on your state; any tax that applies is itemized on your written quote.
  • Dynamic calibration runs on the road, so it can be done as a mobile visit. Static calibration needs a level, lit, measured space, so whether your job can be done mobile depends on what your car's documented procedure calls for.
  • Rows marked Shop bay only are done in a shop bay. The bay-and-road camera price applies when your car needs both calibrations.

Know your Honda's driver assist messages

When a Honda Sensing message keeps coming back after cleaning, here's why and what fixes it.

If it returns on a clean car, something still blocks the view, or a sensor moved. Common causes:

  • The wrong grille or emblem base. They differ by trim, and the wrong one blocks the radar.
  • Paint or a wrap on the radar cover, emblem or grille.
  • Something stuck on the windshield, hood or grille, like film or a sticker.
  • Scratches or aftermarket glass in front of the camera.
  • A sensor moved by front-end work, or a radar bracket bent in a light knock.

Fix the first four before any aiming, or it can fail.

Some Driver Assist Systems Cannot Operate: your questions

Clean and cool first. Wipe the windshield, grille and emblem, cool a hot cabin, then drive a while.

Calibrate if it keeps coming back on a clean car, or after glass or front-end work. Then get a quote with the message.

On a 2017 to 2022 CR-V or a 2018 Accord, there's no reset button. The message clears once the radar can see again.

Wipe the grille, then drive. It can take a while to go off. Still on after that? Get a quote with the full message.

It can be. A new windshield means the camera has to be re-aimed, and aftermarket glass can make the aiming fail.

Re-aiming the camera is $300. More on ADAS calibration after windshield replacement.

Cleaning is free. Front camera calibration is $300 and front radar calibration is $330 at a service center.

Prices are per system, before sales tax where your state charges it on labor, and the full rate card is on the pricing page.

Something is still wrong. Common causes are a painted or wrong grille part, aftermarket glass, or a radar mount bent in a light knock.

The service center checks those first. Your quote is confirmed in writing before anything is scheduled.

Check your policy. If a glass or collision claim came first, ask your insurer whether the calibration falls under it.

Your quote gives the camera or radar its own price line. You can send it straight to the adjuster.
